June 1st, 1925 - 90 years ago today, Lou Gehrig, The Iron Horse, started an incredible streak of playing in 2,130 consecutive games when he pinch hit for Pee Wanninger in the 8th inning of a 5-3 Yankees loss. The next day, Yankees skipper Miller Huggins starts Gehrig at first base for Wally Pipp. Gehrig wouldn't miss another game until May 2, 1939. The record would last until September 6, 1995 when Cal Ripken Jr. played in his 2,131st consecutive game. #Legend #HallOfFamer #TheIronHorse #BronxBombers
