After a lackluster end to a collegiate athletic career and watching my aunt battle brain cancer to the end, I began walking in the direction of comfort and control. I created a path for myself to avoid all stress and disappointment. I continued on this path so long, I walked myself into a rut, one so deep I couldn’t see out anymore. I was stuck asking if there was more to life than this.
Along this path was a friend who attended the same gym. After a year or so of working out together she asked if I had a church to call home. She insisted I join her that Sunday and even picked me up for service. That single service led to me taking Alpha in the winter of 2023, which led to serving at six consecutive Alphas, praying for hundreds of people at REVIVE and Healing Prayer Night, and being able to share my story with others who have felt stuck and needed to come back home to God, too.
I have witnessed the importance of one moment, one conversation, or one question. I was lost and alone in my own creation, but God had other plans for me – good plans. And he, through my friend, brought me back to help seek and serve others.
Do not fear the valley you are in, for God will harvest the fruit you are producing. Turn around and chase after him and the plans he has for you. Love those around you and live a life worth living.
