The importance of adolescence cannot be stressed enough. This is the time when kids are the most impressionable, vulnerable, and malleable. Every social interaction that they have, every relationship they form, every event that happens, has the ability to leave a lasting impression on them and impact who they become in the future. “Sport has the power to change the world. In terms of the development of basketball in South Sudan, we need to start taking steps to start producing homegrown talent. We need to renovate our courts and start properly training our talent while they are young. Most of the courts in South Sudan are either run down or nonexistent. Simply fixing the courts that are already there and providing basic necessities such as basketballs etc. where there’s potential will make the sport more popular amongst the youth. One basketball camp a year is not enough. Many kids play soccer simply because that’s the only sport available or they don’t play sports at all. We are the tallest people in Africa and there are zero indoor basketball courts in the entire country. As long as we make measurable progress in reasonable time, success is inevitable. #UpWay
