Join us for another #CreatorConversations, an "Ask Me Anything" style post where we highlight a variety of different creators within our community. This week, photographer and #SonyAlphaFemale+ Grant winner rdione joins us and shares a series of images from her winning Alpha Female+ project. Read some background on the project here and be sure to jump into the comments with any questions 👉 "Leveraging the momentum and inspiration gained from my most recent project, ‘Profile Noire,’ a photographic experience featuring 100 women of color, I am embarking on a new project to create balance, The Subtle Strength of Kings’ will feature 100 Black men. 

So often unconscious (or conscious) biases strip away the humanity of black men before they even have a chance to fully exist in the world they live in, this project is intended to allow a safe space for them to finally be able to sit in their humanity and use their own words to vocalize it to the world.

Each participant is asked "How do you define your humanity?" they are also asked to come dressed in whatever they feel represents that to them. I am only there to create a space and a platform for them to express it.

I encourage photographers to embark on personal projects that are not defined by any rules or guidelines. These are the projects that are birthed from the soul and the art that the world is waiting to experience."
