Firefighters sometimes rescue cats who can't come down a tree. And sometimes they rescue squirrels who can't get their heads out of a tree.⁣

On April 1, 2021, the crew of Austin Fire Department Engine 38 responded to a 911 call reporting that a squirrel had gotten its head stuck in the knothole of a tree, fire officials said. The crew took video of two local firefighters working to free the squirrel. And yes, there is a happy ending.⁣
