𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏?⛲️ It’s funny you should ask!  Mary Schenley gifted 300 acres to create Schenley Park, and in 1911 a design competition was held to memorialize her and her amazing contribution.  Victor David Brenner, also known for designing the Lincoln penny, won the competition with this sculpture entitled 𝘈 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦.  The sculpture stands outside of the Frick Fine Arts Building and shows a nymph named Sweet Harmony serenading Pan the earth god.  The sculpture represented culture’s power to tame nature at the time. ✨
