In 1969 popular American #artist and #illustrator #normanrockwell is considered a reflection of #americanculture , painted “Behind Apollo 11”, an idealistic assembly of profile #portraits of all the #people that were crucial for the landing on the #Moon such as the three #astronauts (depicted on the left – from left to right:) 
#neilarmstrong 
#edwinaldrin and 
#michaelcollins , 
(in the centre, above the helmeted NASA-employee:) #wernhervonbraun or (in the lower right) the three wives of the astronauts. 
Other persons depicted include the back-up crew of #apollo11 , #scientists , #government officials and launch pad workers. 

The composition describes a soft curve, starting on the right with the Vehicle Assembly Building and a red rocket gantry, gliding over to von Braun (whose staring eye has perhaps the most intense gaze in the whole painting) and from there rising in a slight slope up through the three astronauts. With their helmeted round heads they, at the same time, hint upon the objective and purpose of the gathered crowd: the Moon.
