#AlumniSpotlight: Diana Sosa, BSBA, Global Operations Management '22 

"From an early age, I knew that I wanted to pursue business; however, I didn’t know exactly which concentration I should pursue. After getting advice, I decided to join the Global Operations Management program at SJSU. Initially, I was perplexed about the topics and I didn't understand how integral supply chain management is to any business. 

After my first semester into the program and with my teacher’s support, I started to understand the importance and relevance of supply chain management in business and in the world. For example, during the early days of the covid-19 pandemic, I recall hearing about huge disruptions to world-wide supply chains of goods and services. I knew that I wanted to have a meaningful impact in the world through my education and naturally fell in love with the program. 

I had the opportunity to have amazing teachers at SJSU that helped me throughout the program, some of them are: Professor Thomas Shirley, Damon Moon, Laimin Lo, Christopher Lim, Ming Zho, Salman Tahsin, Seshadri Paravastu and many others professors who actively contributed to my development as an academic, young professional and community member. 

Through this program, I had the opportunity to travel to Wisconsin where I interned for Kohl’s Corporate in production, where I made an impact by not only putting in practice what I learned in my business classes, but also by bringing new ideas to the company. While there I had the opportunity to pitch a diversity and inclusion idea to the VP of Production and D&I Director. 

After my internship ended, the company offered me a full time position which I’ve accepted. The Global Operations and Supply Chain program opened my eyes to see business from a different perspective. I know that a good supply chain is the heart of any successful business."
