I am often asked, “What is Mexican hot chocolate and where do I buy it?”

When it comes to Mexican hot chocolate I usually buy chocolateabuelita, because it is what I grew up drinking. It is a popular brand available in the U.S., but many don’t know that it is actually made in Mexico! You can normally find it in major grocery stores and in Latin grocery stores. 

In our house, we mostly drink it in the traditional way, but I also give it my own spin by using it in lots of recipes! I shred or chop up the tablets to make desserts, mole, or simply cook it to make delicious champurrado.
