#ForTheCULTURE! 🌍 In 2006, Theo Shaw was one of six black high school students from the small town of Jena, LA, who was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the beating of a white student at their high school. The case would be known as the “Jena 6” and he would ultimately spend 6 months in jail due to his family not being able to pay the money for his bond. He and the others eventually pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery charges. After getting out of jail, he finished high school and went on to attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe. In 2019, he graduated from the University of Washington Law School, where he went on a full ride scholarship. Last year, he was sworn in as a lawyer by Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Bernette Johnson. He has passed the bar exams to practice law in the State of Louisiana and in the District of Columbia! He is currently a Indigent defense fellow at Georgetown Law School!
