The Miners win the championship in walk-off fashion! 🏆⛏

For the second straight night, Sussex County overcame a late deficit and walked off against the defending champion Québec Capitales. The Miners won the first canamleague championship in franchise history with an epic 6-5 come-from-behind walk-off victory that will become the stuff of legends. In a storybook ending to a magical season filled with incredible wins and shattered records, Sussex County displayed their trademark resilience and never quit attitude throughout the series between the league’s two top teams.

Starter Cory Jones battled valiantly in his third consecutive triple-digit pitch count outing. Reliever Kevin Grendell provided 1-2/3 innings of one-run ball for his first victory of the postseason. The wheelhousekitchenbar Miner of the Game, third baseman Martin Figueroa, willed the team to victory with his 4-for-5 night, scoring three runs and driving in four, including a solo home run and the three-run walk-off bomb in the bottom of the ninth that secured the cup and sent the fans at Skylands Stadium into a frenzy.
