Happy St. Ruppert's Day! Today would have been Ruppert's 9th birthday. We would have spent the whole day together doing puppy stuff, eating cake, playing, and cuddling. Ruppert passed away at age 7 in a tragic accident. Many people don't know and would never know that I suffer from PTSD and have battled depression for the greater part of my life. Self harm paired with eating disorders and a multitude of things that I have kept to myself. On days when I truly was going to end it all, I would look to my side and there Ruppert was. My love for my animals has saved my life numerous amounts of times. I am not complete without my dog. The feeling of petting an animal calms my nerves and eases my anxiety or thoughts of self harm. I am a nervous person. I have been able to hide it well for many years. Sometimes I'll wear fur or carry a muff when I know that I am going to be in situations that make me a complete mess. Ruppert was my everything. The day he passed changed something in my personality that I can never get back. My once always optimistic eyes have been changed to something a bit more sad. I stopped enjoying the things that I used to adore. I changed the way I dressed and who I spoke to or strived to work with. The only things that keep me going are Norbert, dancing with The Hula Girls, and my close friends/co workers/Mister Watson/and family who understand my love and obsession with animals.
