#SummerXMoody: Erin Park is using her interpersonal communication major and health communication minor at her internship this summer. This Seoul native is interning with Longhorn Wellness Center (healthyhorns) as the Health Communication Intern and she’s also working at the Office of Student Engagement in the College of Liberal Arts.

“I learned that a single health communication campaign requires layers of media literacy. People specializing in health communication dedicate much time and effort deepening their understanding of their target audience, content, and communication mediums. It all helps maximize the effectiveness of a campaign.”

Park has also learned the importance of creating appropriate content for the audience you’re trying to target at her internship. 

“Moody has taught me that I need to make sure that all forms of communication – even the ones that are non-verbal – accommodate all kinds of people. Communicating with a diverse population has pushed me to be more mindful when curating health-related messages.”

She is also spending her summer fostering a cat named Hydie with Austin Pets Alive and listening to Tame Impala’s album, “Currents.” We hope Hydie finds her furrrever home!
