British pianist, composer, conductor, and educator Ethel Leginska made her US debut #OTD—January 9—in 1925, conducting the New York Symphony Orchestra. Leginska—a pioneering advocate of women’s opportunity in music performance and conducting—founded the National Women’s Symphony Orchestra. She appeared at the Hall 16 times between 1916 and 1932. ⁠
