Pete Seeger performed the iconic anthem “We Shall Overcome” at his Carnegie Hall concert on June 8, 1963. This recording is considered by many historians to be a landmark event that showcases song as a means of political protest. The live recording was added to the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry in 2006. ⁠⁠
