It’s corn 🌽

May’s full Moon will last until early Sunday morning, May 7. According to this Maine Farmers' Almanac, the Algonquin tribes of what is now the north-eastern United States called the full Moon in May the Flower Moon for the flowers that are abundant this time of year. Other names include the Corn or Corn Planting Moon, the Milk Moon, and the Hare’s Moon.

This image was captured from the ISS as it orbited 269 miles (approx. 432 km) above the southern Indian Ocean. At the time of this photograph the Orion vehicle on the Artemis I mission was about 207,200 miles (~333,000 km) from Earth and 180,400 miles (290,000 km) from the Moon, cruising at 1,415 mph (2,277 km/h).

Image description: The full Moon is pictured in the center of the image hanging over the brilliant blue Earth, against the blackness of space.
