On Feb. 20, 1962, John Glenn made history by becoming the first U.S. astronaut to orbit the place we call home--planet Earth. A camera onboard the "Friendship 7" Mercury spacecraft captured this photograph of him during the Mercury-Atlas 6 spaceflight.
