55 years ago this month, Michoud Assembly Facility became a NASA facility and was selected to manufacture the Saturn IB and Saturn V first stages. Now Michoud is a major part of NASA's Journey to Mars, as the core stage of NASA's Space Launch System is being built here, and components of the Orion crew capsule.
