There seems to be an endless trove of incredible photos in the NASA archives ... it makes Instagramming so much fun. Pictured here, Navy Divers install a stabilizing flotation collar around Gordon Cooper's Mercury space capsule nicknamed "Faith 7" shortly after splashdown. The U.S. Navy plays an enormous role in recovery of spacecraft after returning to Earth. Does everybody remember the exciting recovery of the #Orion spacecraft after its first flight in 2014? That operation was a partnership between the Navy and the Ground Systems Development and Operations team at NASA Kennedy, where they are building the #spaceport of the future.
