Reposted from sophiagermer — The 90-year-old Charlie Gabriel, of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, offers a handshake to the hall’s operations manager Howard Lambert after a game of chess during a stormy summer afternoon in New Orleans. Gabriel claims he beat Chance the Rapper in a game of chess and possibly Jon Batiste during Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2017.

Charlie Gabriel released his first album called, “89.”

After the game of chess that day in mid-July, he looked at a vinyl copy of his album for the first time.
