There is a misconception that has become commonplace in this society that gravitates toward ease. A notion that we can capture our hopes and dreams and goals without putting in the work that our forefathers considered ordinary.

In this get-rich-quick on the internet, making money and finding “success” with our twitter fingers, 15 minutes of fame world we live in, we are losing the edge that our predecessors held near to their hearts: success is about struggle and sacrifice.

There will always be a path of least resistance that can lead to your goals, but constantly looking for the easy way out has become more and more appealing to a society who’s souls long for the sofa instead of the sweat-filled brow.

We have watered down what it means to be a leader, a professional, an adult. What it means to strive and work. Where integrity and moral compasses are marred by the standing-by of those who recognize the faults of this generation but do nothing and say nothing.

We focus more on what we “want” to do instead of what we “need” to do. What we “need” to do is often the more undesirable option, but it’s the catalyst and prerequisite to the goals and dreams that you desire. It may bring about more pain, but it will most assuredly bring you closer to accomplishment.
