I can’t speak for other athletes, but for ME … the fitness testing for our National Team was by far the most mental challenge I’d ever encountered. 
.
I disliked the things we did, and at times didn’t see how they related to my position. 
.
Long story short…. Sometimes in sport, you have to be GREAT at things you may dislike or disagree with for the better of the team. 
.
I had been that selfish teammate back before the 2008 Olympics, I stayed in my own bubble 🫧 and learned quickly I’m no bigger then the team. 
.
Fitness testing was a reflection of the work we had put in as a squad… 
.
Did I HATE it yes, was I better because of the mental strain it put on me… YES. 
.
The question I always get is “Would I go back and do it all again.”? 
.
The answer ——— Y E S ✨ 
.
My teammates were my heartbeat, the people that picked me up when I was down, the ones that helped give me that competitive edge, and most importantly, the ones that made me realize I have to work harder than anyone else, because I have to have their backs. 
.
So damn grateful for sports… the life lessons learned our invaluable!
