FLOOR PRESS - an alternative or supplement to the conventional bench press, the floor press is a great upper body push exercise to mix in to your training.

✅ builds starting strength. the weight is lowered until the triceps touch the floor and a pause is taken before driving the weight back up.
✅ reduces range of motion. because your shoulder range of motion is limited by the floor beneath you, the bar will not reach your chest. Depending on your anthropometry, that could be somewhere between 2-6 inches above your chest.
✅ great for training around injuries. due to the limited shoulder range of motion, it may allow you to train around certain shoulder issues, however it is especially great for anyone with hip, leg, knee, or ankle injuries.
✅ improve technique. by taking out the lower body from the lift, you can stay focused on technique limiters of the upper body that halt progress on conventional bench press.

Can be done with legs bent or legs straight. If you find you're using too much leg drive and your hips are coming off the ground, switch to a legs straight out position.

Have you tried the floor press?
