Johnny Micheal Spann '92 graduated from Auburn with a degree in criminal justice and went on to join the United States Marine Corp. 

Capt. Spann was a paramilitary operations officer in the #USMC Central Intelligence Agency's Special Activities Division. Tragically, on November 25, 2001, he became the first American killed in combat during the United States invasion of Afghanistan. He died at the Qala-i-Jangi fortress during a Taliban prisoner uprising.
