“Earning a degree at the UofM means breaking away from generational barriers and paving the way for future generations within and outside of my community as a first-generation Latina.”

Our next senior is 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇, a Memphis native graduating with a bachelor’s degree in international studies and anthropology. During her time as a Tiger, she’s been involved with uofm_trio, trialpha_memphis and anthroclubum.

“My experience at the UofM has been more than I could have ever asked for. There is space for every kind of student here and various opportunities to explore and practice your interests and hobbies. The College of Arts and Sciences, in specific, has significantly contributed to my college experience by providing students with dedicated advisors, professors, and staff that consistently support their students in every way possible. Overall, being able to establish multiple communities within a diverse campus such as the UofM has been fundamental to creating and achieving my academic, personal and professional goals as an undergraduate student!”

Following graduation, Alaniz plans to take a gap year before returning to the UofM for graduate school.
