Try self-reflection, not mindlessly absorbing the news cycle. Try journaling your feelings, not angrily replying to comment threads. Try speaking to the most educated person you know on issues of race and inequalities, have a meaningful conversation and pass that knowledge on. Don’t allow yourself to feel helpless or complacent.

My husband is one of the most educated ppl I know on Chicago History and race. He has a master’s degree in the teaching of history and works in CPS (Chicago Public Schools) educating and inspiring high school juniors. I have so much to learn from him and his students. There are many places to make a difference, but I think working with young ppl is surely some of the most important. Find a teacher, a school, a community group where you CAN make a difference and do it! I’m guilty of thinking that Luke’s doing enough for the both of us. That’s a big fat lie I’ve told myself. There is so much more to be done. The change needs to start within each of us.🖤 #blacklivesmatter
