However you’re celebrating, it’s important to know how you’re getting home. We license and regulate taxi, rideshare and limousine services to ensure public safety. Here’s a few important tips:⁣
⁣
🚗 Rideshare drivers are not permitted to pick up customers who hail them on the street, or to approach you to offer service. All trips must be arranged through the company’s app. On your booking confirmation, check for a photo of the driver, the license plate number, and the make and model of the vehicle.⁣
⁣
🚕 When street hailing a taxi, be sure the driver and vehicle are licensed. Look for a taxi plate on the rear bumper of the vehicle. The driver’s ID should be posted in a visible location. If you’re not able to see it, you can ask to see it. Before you get in, take note of the taxi number, company and colour of the vehicle.⁣

If you have a complaint, or compliment, about a taxi, limousine or rideshare driver, call 311 immediately and we will start an investigation. If a crime is in progress, call 9-1-1.⁣
