UPDATE: A snow route parking ban will be in effect beginning Wednesday, October 3, at 10 a.m. During a ban, parking is temporarily restricted on designated snow routes for up to 72 hours. Do you park along a snow route? Look for the blue signs with the white snowflake, or click the link in our bio to check if your address is along the parking ban route.
_
A reminder to stay off the roads if you don’t have to go out today. If you must go out, make sure you give yourself extra time, clean the snow off your vehicle and leave extra room between you and the car in front of you.
_
Between 10-15 cms of snow fell in Calgary overnight with more expected throughout the day.
Crews have been out working on the major routes all night but with heavy accumulations of snow falling in a very short time period, progress has been slow.

Some of the major routes have clear through-lanes but most roads remain snow-covered with icy sections. Sidewalks and cycling infrastructure will not be cleared until the snow has stopped. If you need to travel this morning, leave extra time to arrive at your destination, and drive to winter conditions.
• Crews are focused on Priority 1 (P1) routes - roads that see more than 20,000 vehicles per day, such as Glenmore Trail, Sarcee Trail and MacLeod Trail.
• Under The City’s Seven-Day Snow Plan, crews will work on P1 routes while snow continues to fall to ensure the maximum number of commuters can move through the City safely.
_
While crews work to maintain good driving conditions on major routes, some roads may still be icy and snow covered, especially in residential areas. Leave extra time to get to your destination, and ensure adequate stopping distance between yourself and the car in front of you.
