Scouting Report:
Lapierre is easily a top-five talent in the draft. The problem is that he was limited to just 19 games this season due to concussions, and it’s unclear whether he will ever be able to recover 100%. When he is healthy — he was at last summer’s Hlinka Gretzky tournament — Lapierre can absolutely dominate a game. His vision is elite, as is his ability to run a powerplay and find passing lanes. The centreman is super patient with the puck and is always aware of his options. He’s got great puck protection and stick-handling. His hands are elite as well, and he’s got a quick wrister. Lapierre is not an elite skater, but he still drives play effectively, and is always hustling making plays without the puck. His instincts in his own zone are very good.
Should he fully recover from his injuries, Lapierre is going to become a star.
