The Minnesota Wild have signed defenseman Jonas Brodin to a monster seven-year contract extension carrying an AAV of $6 million.

Brodin has been an excellent defensive defenseman for the Wild. Advanced analytics say he is one of the best defensive defensemen in the NHL, making this contract very good value.

Offensively, Brodin is coming off a 28-point season, and is more of a below-league average producer offensively.
