A historical Pebble Beach moment brought to life in vivid color: George Von Elm hits out of a bunker on the 17th green during the 1926 Monterey Open at Pebble Beach. The tournament showcased Pebble Beach Golf Links as a worthy championship course for its 150 participants, whose glowing reviews ultimately convinced the USGA to hold the 1929 U.S. Amateur there. This made Pebble Beach the first course west of the Mississippi to host a national championship.
