In 1955, Phil Hill's 1931 Pierce-Arrow 41 LeBaron Convertible Town Cabriolet won Best in Show at the fifth annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It was the first true "Classic" car to do so, with new models previously having taken the top prize each year. From there, Concours evolved into the world's premier showcase of antique, vintage and classic models. While the event still takes place on the famed 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links, it has grown in size quite a bit since this photo was taken in 1955!
