Now and Then: the ninth green at Pebble Beach. The ninth hole hasn't always hugged the ocean. When Pebble Beach first opened, it was a 370-yard par-4 that pushed inland. This photo from the mid-1920s was taken just in front of the original ninth green. You can see the current green, which was moved some 70 yards back along the coastline after Chandler Egan made modifications to the course ahead of the 1929 U.S. Amateur ➡️ #TBT
