Did you know that a birdie has never been needed on the 18th hole to win the U.S. Open? Tom Watson sunk a closing birdie here in 1982 during his two-stroke win, after taking the lead with his famous chip-in birdie on No. 17. Maybe 2019 will be the year we see a birdie to win it! If a birdie (or any other score) ties it, the U.S. Open would be decided by an unprecedented two-hole aggregate playoff on Nos. 17 and 18.
