Meet Valentina Montoya, an Esthetician student at Emily Griffith Technical College. 👏

We asked Valentina a few questions about her experience at Emily Griffith Technical College💚:
"I chose Emily Griffith because I wanted to be an esthetician. I read that Emily Griffith has given a lot of opportunity to immigrant students. I was not confident in going to a big college. I was trying to go to another school and then I decided it wasn't for me. I then decided to go to school for English and Emily Griffith was the place and then I learned English and it got my foot in the door so I can get into college with a scholarship from the school." 

What supports have been helpful for you? 
"My biggest supports have been my mom. My mom is my inspiration. She works so hard to get where she is at. She was always a person to want to study and learn. It is so inspirational to me to have that desire to learn. She is a big motivator. Ms. Jennifer Kunches is also a support for me. She helped in this whole process of getting into the program." 

What advice would you give someone thinking about entering the program?
"The advice I would give is you would have to educate yourself. Come in with a knowledge before starting the program. Invest in yourself and you will see results. For someone like me who didn't know English to well you will learn. A language barrier wont stop you, especially if you are driven to work hard and have the want to gain more knowledge."
