We must sadly announce that Colleen is departing the Bowerman Track Club after 6 fantastic years.

Colleen joined BTC when the women’s team had only very recently expanded from 2 women to 3. She immediately helped put the #BowermanBabes on the path to becoming the world dominating force they are today by making the 2015 World Championship team in the steeplechase. She would repeat that feat at the Olympics in 2016 and the World Championships in both 2017 and 2019- an incredible streak of top 3 finishes. She lowered her Steeplechase personal best from 9:29 to 9:10, becoming the 3rd fastest American of all-time. Her BTC achievements have not been limited to the barriers and water pit, however. She’s run a blistering 4:03 for 1500m, made the World Indoor 1500m final in 2018, and was the 2019 US Indoor Champion at that distance.

Anyone who knows Colleen, knows that she is not content to limit her impact on the sport and our club to her track performances. She has been one of our most involved and dedicated Youth club coaches amongst the Pros. All of our young harriers- and especially the young girls- have benefited from her relentless positivity and role modeling. To see Colleen chopping it up with her squad post-race is to really understand the effect that a Pro who invests in the success of young athletes can have on the next generation. Colleen has also done her utmost to extend BTC’s reach outside of our club’s members, often organizing (and dragging her shy teammates to) community events in Portland or at altitude camp locations.

We know that Colleen will continue bring her relentless energy to bear on growing the sport outside of BTC, but her departure will leave a huge hole in our club. Thank you, Colleen!
