Avery Lee (averyy.leee), a star-studded junior for girls basketball powerhouse Menlo has been the focal player of her squad since she came into the program. She has been the Knight’s leading scorer each of her three seasons, averaging 15 PPG for her career. Having already surpassed the 1000 point mark, she is a two-time All-WBAL First Team, All-Metro Second Team, and All-Bay Area Second Team selection. Avery plays tenaciously on both ends of the ball. Offensively, she has the ability to leave anyone in the dust off the dribble and make high-difficulty pull-up shots over the top of rangy defenders. On the defensive end, she has the eye to read passing lanes like a free safety, as she has averaged 3 or more SPG each season. 
Last season, she orchestrated her squad to a CIF DII State Championship with a 15 point, 8 rebound, 9 assist performance under the big lights of the Golden 1 Center. This season was another very successful year for Lee and the Knights, finishing with a 21-6 record. They were set to compete in the CIF regional semifinals against Bishop O’Dowd but had to forfeit due to coronavirus concerns, crushing their title aspirations. But one thing no one can take away from Avery and her squad is that they are still the defending state champions and will be so for at least another year!
