I’ve taught the jump shot for years but I’ve been studying the jump shot for close to 12 months now. My understanding of the mechanics has improved drastically. Before I teach the micro skills, I have to teach myself first and put things to the test. There are a couple things about my form that I’m still inconsistent with but I recently changed one small thing that has made a huge difference. You can’t see it from this angle as the detail is with my left hand but it’s had a significant improvement on the outcome.
As a skills trainer, I really enjoy fixing broken jump shots. You can only get by (or sometimes even dominate) for so long before a broken jump shot exposes you.
