Dixon's vibrant drawings of detailed golf courses made with colored pencils garnered publicity from the magazine Golf Digest, and fatefully, a group of Georgetown University undergraduates who worked to reopen his case which led to his release in 2018. Today, Dixon is a practicing artist and an advocate for sentencing reform.
