The exhibition includes works in multiple mediums that offer examples of how we might reimagine historical narratives in order to contend with the traumas of contemporary life.

Mayerson’s drawings rewrite the tale of Pinocchio to tell the story of a queer, wooden boy navigating a prejudiced society. Originally part of a series of drawings first exhibited at The Drawing Center in 1994, each drawing was made in a different historical style, as if torn from various editions of a book that has been reprinted many times.
