Open Sessions Artist 2018-20: Liz Collins
.
Collins works at the intersection of art and design, utilizing different scales that often
culminate in large immersive environments. These spaces go beyond the realm of the visual
and are functional places to rest, convene, and connect. They are comfortable while still being
optically stimulating, stirring up emotions and mental activity with an arresting, abstract
language of shape, color and form. Collins works primarily with fabric, yarn, and other materials and techniques in the textile realm including jacquard knitting and weaving, often collaborating with industrial textile mills and other artists and designers.
.
Liz Collins lives and works in New York. Her work has been shown at the the ICA/Boston; the New Museum, New York; the Museum of Arts and Design, New York.
.
Open Sessions is a two-year program which provides opportunities for selected artists to contextualize work and ideas through exhibitions, public programs, and critical dialogue, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal, Open Sessions Curators.
