## Caption

One of our current exhibitions, “Alternative Histories From Then To Now", includes both early speculative fiction publications from the mid 20th century and work by contemporary artist, including Cauleen Smith who uses her book drawings to create alternative canons for the public. Her four drawings represent the books that noted science fiction author Samuel R. Delaney has recognized as foundational to the genre. You can also read about Smith's work in an Artforum May 2019 article by Siddhartha Mitter. “Alternative Histories From Then To Now" is on view in our Lab Gallery and Corridor. Wed-Sun12pm-6pm | Thurs 12pm-8pm through July 28. The exhibition includes works in multiple mediums that offer examples of how we might reimagine historical narratives in order to contend with the traumas of contemporary life.
