SJK: “I personally like the effects that pencil and graphite can create––traces and marks. Such effects can also function as metaphors of subconscious internalized information and histories from a sovereign state to an individual.”

CL: “My work is informed by traditions of experimental video, performance for video, and the cinematic essay. I think of Harun Farocki, Yvonne Rainer’s work––particularly recent works that include text or narration.”

Sue Jeong Ka lives and works in New York. Her work has been shown at the Queens Museum, Queens; the Abrons Arts Center, New York; and Alumnos47, Mexico City.

Carolyn Lambert lives and works in Brooklyn. Her work has been shown at Eyebeam, Syracuse; Mattress Factory, Clarion; and La Mirage, Montreal.

Open Sessions is a two year artist program of interdisciplinary events and exhibitions focused on drawing, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal.
