Open Sessions Conversations: Irini Miga & Lei Lei
.
IM: “I find it very problematic when people start speculating on what the future of art will be, or what the future of drawing is. If we want to affect the future, we need to change the present moment.”
.
LL: “To me, drawing is a physical relationship between people and materials. Drawing can be sculpture, installation, performance, or anything else. Through my video work, I try to record the process of my drawings––the process of building physical relationships.”
.
Irini Miga lives and works in New York. Her work has been shown at the Ileana Tounta Contemporary Art Center, Athens; Fisher Landau Center for Art, Long Island City; and Judith Charles Gallery, New York.
.
Lei Lei lives and works in Beijing. His work has been shown at the OCT Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai; Chinese Culture Center, San Francisco; and Star Gallery, Beijing.
.
Open Sessions is a two year artist program of interdisciplinary events and exhibitions focused on drawing, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal.
