Open Sessions Conversations: Alexandre and Florentine Lamarche-Ovize & JC Lenochan
.
ALO and FLO: “Since 2006 we have been extracting notes from our sketchbooks, images from periodicals, reference notes, and responsive sketches which are collaged and printed on large rolls of paper. Our central question is how to reconfigure reality with pictures by collapsing drawing and writing.”
.
JC: “Like my teaching, I make space for the viewer to question issues by creating compositions with multiple perspectives, adding and subtracting text which produces a residue of marks and language.”
.
Alexandre and Florentine Lamarche-Ovize live and work in Aubervilliers. Their work has been shown at the Galerie Laurent Godin, Paris; Luis Adelantado Galeria, Valencia; and Formcontent, London.
.
JC Lenochan lives and works in New York. His work has been shown at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro; Corridor Gallery; Brooklyn; and Flomenhaft Gallery, New York.
.
Open Sessions is a two year artist program of interdisciplinary events and exhibitions focused on drawing, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal.
