Open Sessions Conversations: Edwin Torres & Gabriela Salazar
.
ET: “Finding out more about my own work becomes deeper when I allow myself to involve the world I make, to trust that self-embodied immersion, until that world consumes itself. So when do I put one foot back in the real world?”
.
GS: “When something exists in the same bodily world as we do, we have a desire to know through our hands. I like the tension—at least in theory—of making something that so closely hews to an object meant to be touched, while putting it into a context that usually disallows touching.”
.
Edwin Torres lives and works in New York.  His work has been shown at EFA Gallery, New York and the Center for Book and Paper Arts, Chicago.
.
Gabriela Salazar lives and works in Brooklyn. Her work has been shown at the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, Queens; RISD Museum, Providence; and Efrain Lopez Gallery, Chicago.
.
Open Sessions is a two year artist program of interdisciplinary events and exhibitions focused on drawing, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal.
