Next Sat, June 30 from 10:30am-Noon explore how drawing operates in the world today. Coffee and art materials provided. 20 people max | All Ages Welcome | Tickets $5 via Eventbrite link in our bio
.
This workshop will explore the work in “Ellen Berkenblit: Lines Roar”. Using the female-power of Ellen Berkenblit’s first film, “Lines Roar” as inspiration, Irini Miga, Open Sessions Artist, leads an experimental drawing workshop to explore the intersection of gesture and form. Tables, walls, and parts of the floor will be covered with paper and participants will be prompted to activate the space by drawing freely, primarily on large scale format. Listening to music, we will explore various drawing techniques and observe the moments when lines become complex, self-contained form. Please come prepared to loosen up, open a space for possibilities and be energized anew! .
Irini Miga (b. 1981 Greece, lives and works in NY) studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, London’s Central Saint Martins College, and received her MFA from Columbia University, New York on a Fulbright grant. Miga has been honored residencies by several organizations including the Drawing Center’s Open Sessions program, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture; The Fountainhead Residency; Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Workspace Program; and The Watermill Center.
