RV: “I wanted to examine what are the minimal gestures required to represent something as a ruin without appropriating or aestheticizing the particular pain of a community.” 〰️
MAF: “If architects––purveyors of utopias sold by the square foot––present their designs as dead, it might have a monumentalizing effect, but one that is simultaneously chilling.” 〰️
Rodrigo Valenzuela lives and works in Los Angeles. His work has been shown at the David Shelton Gallery, Houston; Frye Art Museum, Seattle; and MOCA, Los Angeles.

Mustafa Ali Faruki is the founding partner and creative director of the Lab-lab for architecture. Previously, he worked as a design consultant at Kaehler-Moore Architects, where he edited photographs and drawings in preparation for submission. 
Open Sessions is a two year artist program of interdisciplinary events and exhibitions focused on drawing, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal.
