Open Sessions Conversations: Daniel Bozhkov & Rafael Kelman 〰
DB: “Your black ink drawings on discarded pieces of cardboard packages that go over and obliterate the existing logos, leaving ghostly silhouettes that look like a burned cattle marks are always for me coupled with the deep voice of the narrator in your videos who keeps convincing himself and others that the story is true to itself.” 〰
RK: “The endgame of burning fossil fuels is extinction, which is an erasure quite different from the erasure of charcoal or graphite from a sheet of paper in that it brings about an irreversible absence with a catastrophic ecological effect which may or may not be available to human aesthetic experience.” 〰
Daniel Bozhkov lives and works in New York. His work has been shown at the Queens Museum, Queens; Skulpturenpark Berlin-Zentrum, Berlin; and the Santa Monica Museum of Art, Los Angeles. 〰
Rafael Kelman lives and works in New York. His work has been shown at TTM Gallery, Brattleboro; Buoy Gallery, Kittery; and Socrates Sculpture Park, Queens. 〰
