A Page from the #DrawingPapers Archive
This page from Drawing Papers 71 features “Rock 18”, drawn with charcoal and pastel on paper by #HowardRosenthal in 2003.
Rosenthal’s work was part of a Viewing Program group show called Non-Declarative Art, curated by Luis Camnitzer in 2007. The intention of the show was to gather a group of drawing-based artists who were intelligently exploring the non-emission or the minimization of information. Rosenthal’s simple but exquisite rendering of a rock is both transcendent and elusive.
The Drawing Papers are a series of publications documenting The Drawing Center’s exhibitions and public programs and providing a forum for the study of drawing. -Kate Robinson, Registrar
--- This is my final page to post from the archives, so I’ve shared the page that inspired the whole series. Thank you for reading along with me! I’m very happy to hand the bookmark torch to Kara Nandin, our new Bookstore Manager, who will mine our extensive Drawing Papers collection, one page at a time.
